Kit - Headlining Van (Crackle Cream)
Kit - Headlining Van (Crackle Cream)
Mini Vans had a one piece headlining frame with the canopy glued and stapled to it. Crackle Cream was used on early models from 1962 to 1969 and the light grey was used during the 1970s. These frames are no longer available, so make sure you keep them safe if not in the car during restoration.
Basically the sewn headlining is fixed to the frames by loops which are held with office type staples and the outer edges are turned over the frames and glued in place. Obviously these frames are fairly flexible so when fitting the headlining, we would suggest that you carry out the work in a warm environment so that the material is not too hard to stretch. Another tip is to use a hair dryer to soften the material slightly if any stubborn creases are found particulary near the corners.
